Anchored in the coastal city of Portland, Maine, Bob is now retired from his many careers which included advertising and construction. His experience in arts administration includes grant writing for an art association and as treasurer of a performing arts group. In 1994, Bob inaugurated theClick collective, a monthly convergence of photographers and image-makers that persisted for eight years.
Over more than three decades, his photographic praxis has engaged the world both through a lens and a computer. His large-format work accumulated numerous awards at regional all-media exhibitions. Eventually embracing digital capture, he amassed a prolific array of portfolios - most notably in the genre he terms “street” wherein urban encounters are distilled into visual narratives of chance, movement, and social texture.
His second book, Hegel then Nietzsche, uses images to interrogate systems of thought. On the drawing board, Maine Built Ships is a project that uses deep neural networks to reanimate Maine maritime history.
